The Menegazzi Cup is more than just a football tournament—it’s a unique, year-long competitive experience designed to bring together university teams across London in a structured, high-quality league. With affordable entry costs (just £125 per player, £8 per game), teams get to compete for an entire academic year, enjoying consistent matches, top-tier facilities, and a chance to win the prestigious £2000 prize. Beyond the pitch, the tournament fosters networking opportunities, connecting over 580 players across universities, strengthening student communities, and providing a platform to grow university football cultures. Whether you're looking to compete at the highest level, build strong team spirit within your society, or expand your network, the Menegazzi Cup is the ultimate stage to do so.

The tournament features 48 teams divided into 3 leagues, each consisting of 16 teams competing in a 15-match season from October to the end of February. The leagues are named after some of the most iconic football divisions:

  • Serie A (League 1) – Matches on Tuesdays

  • Premier League (League 2) – Matches on Wednesdays

  • La Liga (League 3) – Matches on Thursdays

At the end of the season, the top 5 teams from each league, along with the best-performing 6th-placed team, will advance to the Menegazzi Champions League, a high-stakes knockout tournament in March to determine the ultimate champion. With a well-structured format, competitive matches, and an electrifying finale, the Menegazzi Cup delivers a footballing experience like no other.

Meet the team

My name is Jacopo Menegazzi, and I created the Menegazzi Cup because I wanted to bring a structured, competitive, and community-driven football experience to university students in London. This year, I joined the LSE Italian Society football team, and I really enjoyed playing friendly matches against other Italian societies from different universities. These games were a great way to have fun and connect with new people, but I couldn’t help but feel that something was missing. The matches were often irregular, our team lineup was never consistent, and most importantly, there was no real competition—just casual games with no stakes. I kept thinking, what if this was an actual league? What if there was something bigger, with structure, consistency, and a prize to fight for? That’s when the idea for the Menegazzi Cup was born. I believe football is one of the easiest and best ways to meet new people, build friendships, and create a strong sense of community. My goal with this tournament is to offer students the chance to compete at a high level while forming lasting connections, making university football more exciting, structured, and rewarding than ever before.
